B Makowsky Handbags
80B Makowsky Handbags
[IMPORTANT UPDATE - PLEASE READ : A number of people have left comments below about the poor quality of the straps and handles on B Makowsky bags and how it is impossible to get in touch with B Makowsky as there are no contact details for the company anywhere on the web. I am not in a position to comment on the quality or not of B Makowsky bags but I can state that I have found it impossible to discover any contact details for B Makowsky on the Internet. One of my readers however gave me this number - B.Makowsky customer service 1-888-927-7679 - I haven't verified it so I don't know where it goes - any further info would be appreciated. It may also be possible to contact Kathy von Zeeland or even B Makowsky via Facebook - see the comment from "Tonka's Mom" in the comments section.
Someone else left me this number due to the awful straps on B Makowsky handbags issue, the number is 800-820-6126. I hope this is the help we all have been wanting
B Makowsky Handbags
I certainly find it odd that there appears to be no way of contacting the company if there turned out to be a problem with their product, and it is very odd that on the official B Makowsky website there are no contact details at all (15 May 2010). Check out my links to other hubs for other designer handbag manufacturers, such as Radley, Mary Frances, Dooney and Bourke. ]
The B. Makowsky brand was created by Bruce Makowsky and his wife Kathy Van Zeeland in 2006. B. Makowsky handbags are very popular but some people are leaving comments that they are having problems with them. The stated Makowsky aim is to create high-quality bags at a price most people can afford.
Bruce Makowsky's handbags supposedly offer a combination of fine leather, excellent design and elegant hardware. Makowsky have a reputation for creating quality bags with a timeless look and in just 3 years since their creation in 2006 Makowsky handbags have experienced extraordinary success. The brand is expanding in the USA and are on sale in major department stores such as : Macy's, Dillards, Nordstrom, Von Maur and are also sold via online outlets.
B Makowsky Bags
Most B Makowsky bags sell for less than $220 and are made from the best Japanese "drum dyed leathers" with hand designed hardware.
The distinctive feature of Bruce Makowsky bags is their supple leather, chunky hardware and signature lining.
How to care for your B Makowsky handbag?
B Makowsky handbags are designed to be long-lasting and use the finest quality leathers. To get the best enjoyment from your handbag here are some tips.
- B Makowsky recommends the use of a leather conditioner for cleaning, protecting and polishing.
- Do not use leather conditioners that contain oils as these sometimes trap dirt and may also stain the leather.
- Grease and oil stains and ink marks, cannot be removed so are best left alone.
- To remove surface dirt just wipe your bag with a soft, damp cloth.
How is the leather treated?
B Makowsky uses some of the best leathers available. The leather is drum dyed. Being dyed in a drum makes the leather soft and ensures that the color penetrates the skin. As a result the color is retained if the surface is scratched. Pebble leather is tumbled to obtain a textured surface.
Colors are highly varied with a mixture of blacks, browns and ivory plus a range of fresh colors such as freesia, saffron, denim, and coral. Some of the popular bags are :-
- Dome Satchel
- Berlin Handheld Satchel
- Oslo Dome Satchel
- Lisbon Tote
- Lisbon Hobo
- Croco Ball Tote
- Lisbon Shoulder Bag
- Valencia Hobo
- Oslo Medium Satchel

love your hubs
These are some pretty designs. I love the brown one. Great design
Approximately 9 months ago, I bought a lovely B. Makowsky bag in Macys in NY. However, the handle straps on the bag are rapidly deteriorating to the point that I hardly carry it for fear the straps will break entirely. I emailed B Makowsky and received a reply that I had to take it back to Macys. I did not save the receipt and since Macys did not have another one I was out of luck. I live on a fixed income and this bag was rather expensive for me. Coach, for instance, no matter how long, how old, they stick by their product at all times. I just ask that the bag be replaced or repaired. I just get a runaround - can you assist me.
I had the same problem with Makowsky bag. Handle was poorly constructed. I can not find a customer service phone number for makowsky. I guess they do not want to hear the bad comments.
I have a B. Markowski bag that I purchased TWO MONTHS ago - and the handle is deteriorating as well! I cannot find a phone number to complain. I want to write to the company. Do you know where they are located? I am very upset the bag was really expensive!
I too run into the handle strap problem, it actually broke off... I have been trying to locate B Makowsky contact information and really, it seems it does nto exist any where! I'm glad I stumbled here, at least there is a contact info for his wife... seems to me their bag have some issues with the handle strap... You think they might want to know and fix this problem for the future...
Same problem here with the handle strap. I think I should take the bag back to Macy's I've got the receipt, but it's a shame, cause I really like the bag.
I've got the same problem with the strap. My B Makowsky bag is a pretty green/blue color and the strap has discolored to yellow. I've only had it for 2 months and it's now really unusable. Does anyone out there have any contact info for the company? Odd that you can't contact anyone. I've tried Cathy Van Zeeland several times but have had no response. Help!
Oh well, I tried!!
i too have issue with the b.makowsky handbag strap- although i didn't buy the bag from nordstrom , i talked with one of their customer service people who had info but couldn't give it to me - frustrating!!! i even tried the BBB but they had no address, nor did the yellow pages......do we call Oprah for an expose??? my cole haan purse is wearing much better and for less money!
Approximately 4 months ago, I bought a lovely black B. Makowsky bag from Macys in VA and now the handle straps are deteriorating/cracking. I'm so frustrated because these bags are expensive and trying to locate contact information for B Makowsky seems to be impossible. I do have the receipt, but I'm afraid Macys will not allow me to return the bag and I know they don't have another one because I got it on clearance. Should I try returning it to Macys?
Same problem. Straps are falling apart and it has only been 2 months. Got it as a gift so I don't have a receipt. Hate to complain to the gift giver. Where Mr. Makowsky?
B. Makowsky's parent company(per the INCREDIBLY unhelpful website) is VZI Investment corp. From a quick search, I found their contact info on a import website: VZI INVESTMENT CORP. 1359 BROADWWAY, 21ST FLOOR NEW YORK, NY 10018 646-839-7000
Perhaps that will help someone out- I think I'm taking my broken-strap B. Makowsky to my neighborhood cobbler to see if we can't find some other hardware to replace the existing pieces.
I bought a B.Makowsky's purse and love it,But here's the problem i've only had it for a year and a half and the handle is starting to wear out and i paid nearly 300.00 for it at the bay and they won't do anything about it and that i have contact who imported it here and i feel like i'm throwing my money into the fire. I'm so made that this guy doesn't have a contact info it's makes me think that he's scamming me.
I have been trying to find some contact information as well. What a poor excuse for a company & website. My purse handles are falling apart & Macy's hasn't been helpful either. Other purse manufacturers stand behind their product. I will never buy another product from Makowsky!!
I posted above suebadrak i contacted the headquarters of the bay and they gave me this number
B.Makowsky
customer service
1-888-927-7679
hope this helps you!
How annoying!!!
I bought my B Makowsky bag at Macy's. The straps are totally falling apart. Macy's won't help me and I can't find any contact info anywhere. This is a shady operation for sure! How do you sell bags for $300 that fall apart and then disappear? I will never spend money with this company ever again. Thanks for the info... I'm not going to stop trying to find this poor excuse for a company and get my money back!
I received my B Makowsky bag for Christmas but have only used it since Feb 2010. Here it is June 2010 and the straps are coming apart! I love the bag but am also having trouble contacting the company. Not sure I would ever recommend this brand.
One thing you could do to contact Bruce McCowsky is wait till a shopping channel (QVC has him on a lot), call QVC when he's on air & ask how to contact him.
I wonder if you called QVC even when he's not showing his bags & ask for his contact info. Worth a try!
You can count me in on the long list of unhappy owners of a Makowsky handbag due to the poor quality of the straps. Like many others listed here, I found no contact info to state my complaint, at least.
I will never again buy their product.
Very unhappy former customer, sincerely.
I thought I was the only one in this crappy boat! I paid $250 for a bag I love last fall, not only do the straps look like crap the hardware that holds them on fell apart. Macy's won't help because it's past the 180 day rule and I can't find Makowsky anywhere. I tried calling QVC and they had no info for him. However had I bought the bag from them and not Macy's they would be replacing it as I type this! I'm going to try the # from the above post (1-888-927-7679) I'm done with Macy's and B. Makowsky.
FYI - you can no longer contact Kathy Van Zeeland from her website, it is set up like the B. Makowsky site! I think it is a conspiracy!
I love B Makowsky bags. They are so stylish and comfortable.
Just an FYI. Kathy Van Zeeland has a Facebook page. There is a customer service e-mail address. It is customerservice@kvz.com This may or may not help someone. I have 2 of his bags......I'm running to check on the handles and hardware right now!!
Also found a lady through Facebook that was not happy and somehow they made it right for her. I found her through the "B Makowksy" fan page. Try there, the lady's name is Judith. She may be able to lead you in the right direction for some good customer satisfaction.
WOW. I discovered today that my $250 Makowsky bag that I purchased from Macy 11 months ago had...you guessed it...cracked handles. I took the bag to a shoe repairman who told me that he couldn't fix it. So I logged onto the Internet and discovered that Mr. Bruce Makowsky, evidently, does not want to be found. How irritating...and frankly, AMAZING in this day of global access. Luckily, I still had my Macy's receipt. I printed out 4-5 pages of other consumer problems, took my bag and receipt back to Macy's expecting a hassle. But I rec'd no hassle at all! I get the impression Macy has heard these complaints before. I returned my B.Makowsky bag and purchased a lovely Coach bag. Good luck ladies!
Horrible Hardware...
Recently my $300 Bruce Makowsky bag that I purchased from DSW 9 months ago had the same issue as above... Yup you got it... CRACKED HANDLE. I'm unable to return to store damaged. I too took the bag to a shoe repairman and no luck. Ugh! Now, I'm more irrated because the B. Makowsky website doesn't even offer buyers/consumers and customer service number. In this day and time, who does that? This bag was my first and now my last purchase of any kind from this designer. Trust me I will be passing this information along to ALL my family and friends.
Best wishes Ladies!
Lena
read your comment on the Makowsky bag and just wanted you to know I had a problem with my coach bag and they will do nothing for it. Even though it's suppose to be guaranteed for life. Nothing is for ever any more!!
Joey
I prefer the B Makowsky Soft Piped Shopper Handbag, it looks elegant and shoule go well with dress too.
Thank you for this forum - I'm glad to know that others were having the same problem! I bought my B Makowsky bag at Nordstom in January 2010 and by September the handles were totally worn. I brought it back to Nordstrom and they offered me a credit (because my bag was all sold out) but I love the bag so I went with the repair option. In about 6 weeks they fixed it--it would have been a $90 repair charge but they did it for free-yay Nordstrom!
I just bought a B Makowsky bag tonight with the matching wallet and I swear I was debating the purchase because the handles on the bag felt flimsy. So something led me to do some research and I landed on this page. So glad I did because as beautiful as that bag is it will surely go back tomorrow! I have the receipt and I'm taking it back pronto, and getting that Madison Sophia, from Coach that was on Oprah's favorite things! Thank you so much for all the reviews it just saved me a whole lot of money and headache!
It is interesting to see the comments you received - how people dropped by to complain about the bag, and misunderstood that you are in somewhere related to them.
I own 3 of Makowsky handbags, no more. My friend in Calif.that is having problems with contact concerning the bag. The man wants to sell without any responsobilty
QVC sells the B Makowsky bags and is on air most of the time when he is promoting a bag. You might check with QvC and get a time when he will be on air, and possibly contact him there.
Thank you, I'll be returning mine also.
I've purchased several B Makowski bags, all from QVC, and I've never had a problem with deterioration of any type. I've had one bag for over a year and use it regularly. My straps are in excellent condition.
I received my most recent purchase last week and am as in love with it as I was when I saw it online. I'm sorry so many of you have been dissatisfied. There are however, a great many very satisfied B Makowski owners out here. I will be getting another purse before too long.
There is now a Web page....Bmakowsky.com..that has a customer service tab and a contact tab on the bottom right side of the page.....Good luck to all !
I also purchased a B Makowsky handbag, which is one of my favorite bags. Same problem with the straps, the leather is deteriating. Took it to my local shoe repair shop & he said he could do nothing with it that the straps are dry rotted but the bag itself is fine. Will contact the customer service posted by Pattie. Disappointed as the bag was pricey & I no longer have the receipt. I thought I was making a good investment & would be able to carry the bag on & off for several years as with my other handbags!
My mother just got me one of B Makowsky's bags. I love it. It is still new but leather is supposed to be treated. I read up on it and he suggests to treat the leather with a leather conditioner but not with oils. Maybe if I do that then I won't have the above problems. Thank you everyone this has my eyes open.
HOPE THIS HELPS: Makowsky recommends that you just use a leather conditioner on it for cleansing it, polishing and guarding it. Ensure the conditioner has no oils as this could trap dirt and depart stains to the leather. In case you have to have to take away any dirt, you may merely wipe it absent that has a soft, damp washcloth
PURCHASED A HANDBAG 4WEEKS AGO. HANDLES FALLING APART. TOOK IT BACK TO WHERE I PURCHASED IT. SAID THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME A REFUND BECAUSE I HAD NO RECEIPT. VERY DISSATIFIED. NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER ONE.
The zipper broke after getting caught in my Markowsky bag. I went to their website and sent them a message telling them of my plight. My bag was less then a year old. I got an email the next day asking from Marvi who asked me if I could send her pictures of the damage and she would send it to their QC department. Which I was happy to do. I then got another email from Marvi saying that the bag I have was no longer available, but she sent me pictures of at least 8 other bags I could choose from and in less then a week I had the new bag delivered to my place of employment. Any one who is having problems all you need to do is send them an email via their website. I had the best customer service! Marvi was so wonderful and very hands on. Tell Marvi Jayne from Chicago sent you to her! She'll take very good care of you. Honestly Markowsky does stand behind their bags! They really do!
TOOK MY BAG TO A LOCAL COBBLER. HE SAID HE COULD NOT FIX IT. POOR WORKMANSHIP. I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED. I REALLY LOVE THE BAG. I GUESS I WILL TRY THE WEBSITE THAT ZENA SUGGESTED AND SEE IF I GET A NEW BAG. GLAD THAT SHE GOT IN TOUCH WITH SOMEONE.
I have several handbag's from B. Makowsky I have never had a problem with them I love all of them.
I purchased a very a 268.00 B Makowsky 6 mth ago, part of the leather strap had unraveled, .VC DOES NOT BACK IT PRODUCTS !!! And cannot get in touch with " BRUCE !!! Don't buy his bogus bags.....or shop through QVC !!@
Just purchased my 4th bag, one of the rings was broken, unable to contact B Makowsky for replacement. Sorry Makowsky for the price of maybe a $5.00 ring that holds the strap on, that I was willing to purchase but unable to contact just cost you another unhappy customer.
WOW SO MANY UNHAPPY CUSTOMERS. I met a friend of B. Makowsy's cousin who told me the company had been sold to a chinese company. I own 3 purses and 1 wallet. The last purse I purchased the color is rubbing off the leather where it comes in contact with my arm. I e-mailed B.Makowsky customer service 6 times. They reply within 60 seconds always the same e-mail saying thank you for your enquiry etc. We are dealing with customer service robots. U lost another customer. What a SHABBY operation.
I purchased a $250 BMakowsky from Macy's 6 mos ago. The handles are splitting and the seams are comin apart. I emailed them from the link on their website, they asked me to email pictures of the damage. They gave me a selection of bags to choose from (half as much as I paid) and they sent me a new one. They didn't want a reciept or any other purhasing information. Took a few weeks, and the bag is nothing as beautiful as what I bought, but it's better than nothing
i have two radley handbags in need ov repire do you have an address for me
Thanks for the reviews and information. I bought a BM bag via QVC. VERY happy with the purchase, but I lost one screw and finding it impossible to repair locally. Told the challenge is finding the specific type of tiny screw. Dissatisfied that there's no direct line to BM for customer service. Likely not to make future purchases.

I have a passion for handbags, too, and am looking for a new summer bag, possibly in red or aqua. (They also sell very well on E-bay...any designer bag!). I'm going to take a look at your links. Thanks!
